We are also a perfect daylight photography studio, with natural light pouring in from our glass windows and skylight.

A hallmark feature of the space is the retractable skylight roof, which opens and closes with the click of a button. Enjoy an open-air function if the weather permits and close the roof in seconds if the weather turns. The space has floor to ceiling double volume windows with views in almost every direction.

We currently run functions using one-off event liquor licenses, while we await our permanent liquor license. We need confirmation of your event at least 6 weeks prior to the event so the liquor license can be confirmed. Alcohol may only be consumed on site. The bar can be stocked with any variety of brands available on our beverage menu (please request separately). Drinks can be paid for on a cash basis, or on a tab to be settled after the event by the client. Should you wish to bring your own alcohol into the event, corkage of R150 per person will apply.

There is a large outdoor space at the back of the venue available for temporary kitchens to be erected. There is access to a sink and plug points. We recommend arranging a stretch tent for shelter, as the outdoor area has no roof.

Our space has two unisex toilets and three urinals. The bathroom facilities are included in the package and are a permanent fixture.

Only our in house sound system will be permitted to be used in the venue as a noise assessment has been done with this system and the necessary limiters have been installed. No external sound systems will be permitted.

There is no smoking inside the venue. Designated smoking areas are provided on the outdoor deck. Smoking outside of the designated areas will incur a fine.

Rooftop on Bree is located on the rooftop of a business building, and therefore activity at the venue may have an impact on other building tenants (noise, lude behavior of guests, disturbance during load-in and out, etc.) We expect all guests to be respectful and act sensibly, while preparing, enjoying, and celebrating at the venue.

The venue closes at 12:30AM. 12:30AM is the final vacate time of the last person leaving the building. No loitering in the entrance of the building as this is shared with other tenants and must be kept clear of guests aside from entrance / exit.

When possible, all decorations and equipment must be delivered and set up on the same day as the event, and removed at the conclusion of the event, unless by prior arrangement.

Nothing may be nailed, tacked, taped, hung, stapled or affixed in any way to the facility, inside or out. All technical requirements and arrangements must be agreed upon between the customer and Rooftop on Bree before the event. Infinity walls can be painted at the client’s expense and should be painted white after use.

Should there be any damage to either the venue or its contents during an event, the client (hiring the venue) will be held responsible. Confirmation of an event serves to confirm that any damage will be repaired or replaced without question by the client within a 7-day period after the event, upon receipt of written request to do. We will also take a R5 000 breakage deposit which will be returned within 7 days of the event if nothing is damaged.

Guests attend Rooftop on Bree at their own risk. Rooftop on Bree, its suppliers, its agents, employees and assignees shall not be held liable for any theft, injury, loss or damage of whatever nature, and the client and guests hereby waive any claims that may arise against any of these parties. By confirming an event at Rooftop on Bree, the client accepts the above terms and conditions.

The venue is lit up by over 80 warm white down lighters. There are also blue uplighters that shine into the roof. The venue is well insulated and retains heat well. On particularly colder evenings in winter, we suggest bringing in gas heaters or an alternative heating mechanism

There are five plug points around the venue, including two that are accessible from the roof should you want to add additional lighting.

If the event is cancelled more than 7 days before the event, we charge a 50% cancellation fee. If the event is cancelled within 7 days of the event, there is a 100% cancellation fee. This only applies to events that have been confirmed and invoiced.

Due to the proximity of our residential neighbors we do have some noise restraints
1. Music is to be switched completely off by 11pm. 2. Music is not to go over 74Db’s (inside the venue). 2.a. You are welcome to schedule a sound check before booking the venue to hear how loud this is. 3. The roof is not allowed to be open while there is music on.
